I spent Saturday in Providence, Rhode Island. (Yes, there are lots of things to do in Boston, but Rhode Island is a whole different state, which somehow made it much more interesting to me). It's about an hour from Boston on the commuter rail line. It's really a nice city. We basically wandered around for a while, then walked the historic mile.
We got back to Boston a little after 6 and heading towards the Common to get some food and see my youngest sister's school.
