Today I made Christmas spiders. They are very cute.
It is hard to tell from the pictures, but the legs are a combination of long beads and seed beads. The body is one large bead, and the head is a medium size bead.
I do not plan to quit my day job - I ended up needing 10 leg pieces (instead of 8) and three body wires (instead of 2) for the 2 spiders.
Wow - I really like this! Can you tell me if there is a history of Christmas spiders? They are one of my favourite animals...and I've recently started making my own jewellery - so if you could share the "recipe" - it would be greatly appreciated!
ReplyDeleteHere's an approximation of what we did: http://jewelrymaking.allinfoabout.com/features/spider.html
ReplyDeleteWe actually used special wire for the legs (it had a loop in the middle already) and the centre is something that looks like a giant straight pin. However, normal wire would work.
The hardest part was getting the middle tight enough.
The story that goes with it is here: http://jewelrymaking.allinfoabout.com/features/spiderstory.html
