Today
I participated in earth hour. I`ve got to say that I`m not sure I get the point. Yes, turning out your lights will reduce your electricity use - but then you`re sitting in the dark. Is that really a viable solution? I think I`m missing something.
We participated too. It's an energy conservation movement. I don't think it's expected that we sit in the dark all the time as a solution to reducing the waste. More likely, to bring awareness to how much energy is used/wasted. Just replace your bulbs with energy efficient (gradually, I mean, they're expensive!), turn off the lights when you're not using them, and you should be good to go. :D
ReplyDeleteI participated too and found it an interesting exercise because, even though I generally try hard to conserve energy and am very good at not leaving lights on when I'm not using them (I only had one light to turn off), I found that after 50 minutes I was starting to really want to turn that light back on. Where in the beginning I saw it as an excuse not to do dishes, after 50 minutes I started wanting to turn lights on to be able to brush my teeth and then do dishes. I'm not sure what to take from this revelation though.
